Pre-MBA Bootcamp
Fidelis’s Pre-MBA Bootcamp has been been built by military folks who’ve been down this path already for those who are starting their journey.
It’s targeted, quick, and practical--intended to be exactly what you need to hit the ground running on day one.
The program is delivered in a blended online learning environment, so you can participate from anywhere in the world. The experience and content is delivered through Fidelis’s advanced technology platform with the personalized support and instruction of designated Fidelis staff and a UCLA Ext. professor.
The Pre-MBA Basic Course for the class of 2014 (May 4 - July 30) is free of charge and includes:
An opportunity to be part of a closed online network and professional community of military alumni entering business schools this fall.
Multimedia Learning Applications with content developed from military alumni who’ve gone through MBAs and are out in industry. These mini-courses ensure that you have the fundamentals and context to hit the ground running when you get to business school:
- Professional Networking
- Finding and Working with Professional Mentors
- Revamping Your Resume and LinkedIn Profile
- Business School Jargon and Lingo 101
The Quantitative Primer (June 18 - July 27)
People taking the Pre-MBA Basic Course can enroll in the Quantitative Primer to get more targeted support and customized coursework to remove all doubt that you’ll get off to a good start in business school. The overall Pre-MBA Basic Course is available free of charge, but the Quant Primer portion of the Bootcamp is delivered by the university and is competitively priced at $650. It includes:
UCLA Ext. 6-Week Course
- Finance and Accounting: terminology and basic concepts
- Excel modeling: key toolsets you'll need
- Statistics and Quantitative Analysis: just enough to go in feeling confident
To ensure that you get a running start, Fidelis will offer bolstered services and content to Quant Primer students including:
Mentors
Fidelis has been building a network of professionals who have signed up as Fidelis Mentors. Bootcamp students will have access to Fidelis Mentors so they can build a professional and personalized advisory board of mentors who are military alumni MBAs a few steps ahead of them.
Additional Multimedia Learning Applications including:
- Personal Branding, Self-Promotion, and Refining Your Elevator Pitch
- Communicating Your Military Experience Effectively to Employers and Classmates
- Executing a Targeted Network Job Search
- Developing a Strategic Career Mindset and Plan
- Balancing Geography, Function, and Industry in Career Choices
- Writing Professional Emails, Communications, and Cover Letters
Personalized coaching as desired
A designated Pre-MBA Fidelis coach will be available to help connect each student with the resources and support he or she needs at all times. The coach himself has been through the military and graduate school, so he’s an expert on this transition.
Facilitated introductions to Company Partners
Many pre-matriculated MBA students have gap time and seek to find internships. As appropriate, Fidelis is able to make certain introductions that can facilitate such internships. In 2012, we intend to keep this lightweight, but see it as critically important in future years.
